Predator: The Hunted

Choose skin:  The Hunted  Bloodrain  Battlescar  Predvision  AlienHost  Comicbook

Prepare to enter Joker's website The Hunted, a site dedicated to a highly respected alien warrior, the Predator.

The site contains everything from the physical bio of the creature (including language, ethics codes and weaponry), to all media that the Predator has been found in (comics, movies, games). And although the information comes from many different sources, I still try to use the movies as the final judge.

Predator: The Hunted should be of interest to not just 'Predaphiles', but those who know nothing about the alien warrior... and the amount of information around shows that the Predator is far from just a movie character - it could easily be an actual creature!

Note: Don't think that I side completely with these Predators. I respect them for their morals and skills, but let's face it - even if you're unarmed and can communicate with them - be in the wrong place at the wrong time during heat and conflict, and a Yautja wouldn't think twice about claiming your skull.

We are The Hunted... be prepared, or be in a trophy case.

Post: March 2011

Well my faithful friends, the time has finally arrived. After taking an increasing hammering for years now, my hosting company has finally given a battle cry to warn that the current bandwidth of the site is beginning to cripple their servers!

As mentioned in the donation box on each page, Predator: The Hunted has been around now for tens of years; and I'm always striving to make the most informative, interesting and community-assisted Predator area on the web. Many very generous people listed in the Donator Hall of Fame have provided much-appreciated funds, but the time is fast approaching that your donations won't actually 'assist' the survival of the site... they may actually be 'relied on' for the survival of the site!

So if you can spare anything at all, please donate. Every little bit will help out to pay for the site's increasing upkeep and ensure its survival. I know everyone's doing it tough out there, and I hate to beg (maybe I should just use threats instead!) but I'm hoping I can count on some loyal followers to do their bit for their classic website that is The Hunted.

Thank you for your support, whoever and wherever you are!

Recent News
Post: September 2010

So the third installment of our beloved character's movie has arrived, and the reception is... mixed. Rotten Tomatoes (and seemingly the majority of reviewers) agree that the film receives an average score of 6/10. The critical consensus is: "After a string of subpar sequels, this bloody, action-packed reboot takes the Predator franchise back to its testosterone-fueled roots." Another review aggregation website Metacritic gave the film a score of 51% indicating mixed reviews, based on 30 reviews from selected mainstream critics.

So, it seems the new film might not be the saviour of the franchise that we might have hoped. But even if the very least thing that Predators has done for the Yautja character was rescue him from the mostly forgettable tie-ins films that are Aliens vs Predator, then that's still a good thing!

Anyway, the usual bunch of updates have been occuring as they come to light; the good old Mailbag has received attention, as have the Comics and Books page and the Movies area. Things will no doubt be pretty quiet for a while now, but don't fear... you'll never see the last of me! :)

What everypne's "preying" for
Post: February 2010

There's no denying it now, this year Predators will *finally* be stalking a theatre near you! As I've said earlier, I'm trying to avoid too much Predators-related news (including the script, cast, details etc) with the objective of watching the movie as un-biased as possible... but I couldn't stop myself from visiting www.predators-movie.com to watch the new trailer!

What can I say... so far, so good! I'm pretty pleased with the overall 'feel' of the trailer -- mainly because of the familiar audio cues, although the cast seem to fit well too -- and if anyone can pull off a decent Predator movie, it's Rodriguez. If all works out, this could be the one we've been waiting for!

Just quickly, I've boosted the Comics and Books page a little, and added some mail to the Mailbag. I've got more updates to make soon, but this is it for the time being! Until next time, be sure to drop us a message regarding the new movie or the site -- I'd love to hear your opinions on both!

"Red Fox, request for MP3s approved"
Post: November 2009

Hello again my friends, here we are with a small but important update!

As you'd probably already know, there was a bunch of MP3 files from Predator and Predator 2 on the Music and Audio section, which were hosted off-site on a Geocities page. And as you'd probably already know also, sadly Geocities is no more. (This is unfortunate for a great many folks, particularly Predator fans, as a whole lot of Yautja sites were hosted on Geocities... R.I.P.!)

However, at great personal expense (yay Joker!), I re-sampled all of the lost audio clips in high-quality stereo MP3 format, and they're all ready for your listening pleasure back on the Music and Audio page! All the previous clips are there, as well as a few more classic selections that weren't there.

That's all for the moment -- short and sweet, I know -- but I'll return soon with more updates and additions. And as always, if you have a particular request, please let me know! See you again soon, and Merry almost-Christmas!

Soon the hunt will begin -- again!
Post: October 2009

Greetings, my fellow Hunters and Hunted... back again with a few smaller updates, focussing mainly on the new Aliens vs. Predator game and the up-and-coming Predators film. Glad there's finally some worthy reporting to do!

Now as with AvP2, I'm trying hard to avoid learning too much about the new Predators film (I'm trying to keep expectations low, you see... I'm sick of being disappointed by poor Predator movies) but since I have to report important stuff as it happens, here we go! The lead role in Predators has been given to Adrien Brody (King Kong, The Pianist, Summer of Sam), whose part is listed as 'a hunter of men' who ends up leading the group of human mercenaries on the Predator planet. To me, it's starting to sound like a cross between the original film and Pitch Black, which isn't a bad thing at all. Visit the Predators page for more info!

And now for the new Aliens vs. Predator video game by Rebellion Developments (the team behind the 1999 original PC game) set to be published by Sega for PC, PS3 and Xbox360. As with the original games, it's a first-person shooter based on a combination of the characters and creatures of the Alien and Predator franchises. It is to be released in the first quarter of 2010, so there's not long to wait now! See the Games section for the latest news.

Well, that's it for the moment... thanks to all new visitors and loyal fans alike for visiting The Hunted!

"It's been a long time, General..."
Post: August 2009

Okay, cue the Jungle Hunter's laughter from the end of the first Predator film -- that's the sound of the last laugh to those naysayers who thought The Hunted was dead and buried! Granted, it's taken longer than I anticipated for the updates and maintenance complete website re-write to be finalised... but at long last, it's mission accomplished. For the moment!

So what's new? Well for starters (as you can see from the address bar) there's been an evolution. An all-new Joker domain and webspace (finally) will at last allow me to give the site the attention it deserves. And below the logo (if you haven't already had a play around) there's a new bunch of pretty skins to choose from! I've gotta say, I still prefer the original theme -- but the Comicbook skin turned out quite cool.

And as for the general updates to the site, well there's just too many to mention. There's new (or enlarged) Images in the Gallery, a new Predator Console font (by me) along with Wallpapers and Posters in the Downloads area, a lot of updates to the the Comics and Books page, even more updates to both the Movies and Music and Audio pages, and plenty more that I've forgotten.

What do you think, was it worth the wait? I sure as hell hope so. All messages of support (or criticism) can be left on the Feedback page. Happy hunting, and It's great to be back!

Activiting self-destruct sequence
Post: July 2008

Hardware power-up: Startup Initiated, Boot Success: Systems operating at 99% efficiency: *Incoming transmission* "Is this thing on? Testing, testing..." Okay. Greetings faithful Yautja, Xenomorphs and Humanoids alike! First of all let me apologise for my extended absence, mainly due to the loss of a computer AND internet connection altogether -- the good news is that the new computer and broadband connection means there should never be another similar absence! I promise. Hopefully.

I was also holding off updating the site until I've seen Aliens Vs Predator 2, which believe it or not, I still haven't seen yet. It's been quite difficult to avoid seeing spoilers for it all over the net, too...

I'll be reviewing ther whole site's contents shortly; the Movies area (including the Bloopers/Trivia section, and the Fan Films pages); probably some additions to the Yautja section; and adding some correspondence that arrived in the Mailbag; but until then I'd just like to thank everyone who continues to leave messages of support via email and on the Feedback page.

It's great to be back, and I'll see you all again soon! *Transmission ends* Hardware power-down: Abort, Retry, Fail? Ahh, *c'jit*...

AvP2 ETA ASAP
Post: August 2007

After a couple month's hiatus (involving moving house, and starting a new job) the missing-in-action Joker is back with updates to The Hunted! Apologies to everyone for vanishing like that, and thanks to everyone who's been patiently waiting for new stuff!

So what's been happening since I disappeared? Well, the biggest news to date must be that the new trailer for Aliens Vs Predator 2 has been released! Head over to the AvP-R official website and see what to expect from the next movie installment, come Christmas. I'm feeling hopeful...

And while there hasn't been much new multimedia added to the site, there's been plenty of input from the fans. There's some more Links to look over, new contributors who've made it onto the Donator Hall of Fame, interesting correspondence that arrived in the Mailbag, and even some additions to the Movies area (including the Bloopers/Trivia section, and the Fan Films pages).

With any luck, the next few months will be both a period of new hope for the Predator movie franchise, and for myself to be able to update the site more often! Until then, I'll leave you with the greatest of thanks to everyone and anyone who sent emails and left messages of support on the Feedback page. See you real soon!

Firing 'canon'...
Post: February 2007

Hello all, I finally dragged myself into 2007 and brought with me a few updates. Nothing quite as exciting as mentioned earlier (YET) but rest assured that there are some very interesting stirrings in The Hunted camp. Stay tuned!

So what are these updates, you ask? Well, there's more Links to check out, a few random images added to the Images gallery, some more fantastic friends who've made it onto the Donator Hall of Fame and helped The Hunted cause, and last but not least... I've finally bitten the bullet and separated (sort of) the Predator/Yautja page, and others, into What the Movies Tell Us and What the Comics Tell Us.

The canon issue had to be addressed sooner or later (and it's not something I've taken lightly, believe me), but the rift between the Movies=Canon and Books=Canon groups is just too damn wide. And with Alien Vs Predator 2 on the horizon, it seems like it's getting wider all the time. Now don't fret, nothing major is going to change around here... but I think it's time to address the canon issue and really try to discover the TRUE Predator universe (or at least, one that the majority of us Pred fans can agree on!). I want people from both sides of the fence to appreciate this site, whether they're Movie fans or Comic fans -- it might be an impossible task, but hell, I'm gonna try it!

Any thoughts on this hot topic? Let yourself be heard on the Feedback page! Until we meet again...
