Although rated as disappointing by most fans, Alien Vs Predator did well enough at the box-office to ensure a sequel. And now the question is, would a third installment surpass the others?

Alien Vs Predator 3

To be released
20??

Could Fox be brewing Alien vs. Predator 3? In an empty theater, no one can hear you scream...

As of March 2008 (according to movie site Rotten Tomatoes), the original Alien vs. Predator film had earned a 22 percent rating, while 2007's Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem topped out at 15 percent. Would a third installment end up with single digits?

According to ShockTillYouDrop.com, we'll all find out soon enough. Following up on earlier comments from AvP2 directors the Brothers Strause, who said Fox was taking a 'wait and see' approach to another sequel, the site reports that the ever-popular 'anonymous source' has labeled a third Alien vs. Predator film 'a certainty.'

According to the Strauses, a third AvP 'would have to continue in space' -- but, as ShockTillYouDrop is quick to point out, the Strauses' involvement is as yet undetermined. Despite near-universal critical pans, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem earned $128.8 million in worldwide theatrical grosses, a total that can only grow with the release of the DVD.

News/Interviews/Rumors

Is Aliens vs. Predator 3 on the Way?

December 12, 2007 - According to director siblings Colin and Greg Strause, the ending of the upcoming 'Aliens vs. Predator 2' sets up a third installment in the sci-fi franchise. If it does happen, says the Strauses, the battle will be taken to the stars, which would be a good idea because, let's face it, it's about time the setting changed a little bit in this series.

"What we've kind of told them is, I think, ... to us, this is the end of the Earth story," Colin Strause said in a group interview at the Santa Monica, Calif., headquarters of the Strauses' visual-effects company, Hydralux, on Dec. 11. "The next one has got to be in space. You know, the way we kind of end this it's like, 'We're kind of done here.' "

Where would that contemplated space-based adventure stand in the Alien timeline? "It would be nice [if] the next one, maybe, [took place just] before [the events in the original] Alien," Colin said. "But definitely [it] kind of needs to be more of a space epic."

Hey, I can dig it. Take it into outer space, baby, where it belongs anyway.

'Aliens vs. Predator 3' Unlikely, 'Predator' More Possible

September 22, 2008 - Producer John Davis said that 'Aliens vs. Predator 3' could be dead but 'Predator' will be revived with Arnold Schwarzenegger on board.

There is a big possibility that the 'Alien vs. Predator' saga will end until the second installment only, but there could be more on 'Predator'. Even more interesting, Arnold Schwarzenegger may be on board to reprise his role as Dutch if indeed the movie is re-made from the original 1987 flick.

Producer John Davis talked to Collider.com, referring Arnold, who has taken hiatus from film industry to concentrate on his politician role, as the Governor. He said, "Well, the Governor has mentioned to me that when he ceases to be Governor, if he doesn't run for the Senate and all of that stuff, he'd like to do a movie or two again. And I don't know, maybe we could restart the Predator franchise."

When asked how big is the possibility if Arnold eventually signs in, Davis added, "Well we'd have to come up with a really good script and a really great angle on it, but Predator was the first movie I was ever involved with, so it's always going to have a really soft spot in my heart.

Meanwhile, on AVP itself, Davis doubted there would be more of it since they have 'logically done' with what they could've done with the franchise. The latest installment is the 2007 Aliens vs. Predator - Requiem.
